well, travelling with a toddler is a MUCH different experience than travelling without. imagine always being on a walk with a toddler all day...throwing snacks at them, getting into the stroller... getting out, pick me up...no, put me down, i´m so tired i will sleep right here...no wait, i´m wide awake,...you get the idea. anyhoo, pippa has been a great traveller and we are having fun. but, i have learned A LOT about travelling with a 1.5 year old. these things are:
1. don´t be fooled...a child under the age of two still needs a ticket to fly, even though you don´t get a seat for them. in fact, their ticket costs $360...yep...it´s true. we however, didn´t know that until we got to the airport...luckily they sell them at the counter. otherwise the lady at the ticket counter would have been her guardian until we got back! kidding.
2. strollers don´t work too well on the cobblestone streets of antigua
3. they can only snack on baker´s breakfast cookies and nuts for so long...then you need some real food.
4. while we try to be concerned about cleanliness, the truth is, keeping clean is overrated. how many times have i cleaned her hands with purell and then picked up her binky off the floor, stuffed it into my pocket with my dirty hands, then handed it back to her 5 minutes later without cleaning it...thankfully, she seems obsessed at times with cleanliness and likes to remind me to
5. they NEVER sleep when you really want them to.
6. i love china for importing their cheap toys around the world...you can´t believe the stuff you can buy for literally nothing. the most ridiculous plastic kitchen sets (food and all) for absolutely nothing.
well, to be continued. gotta run
